Among rusty ponderosa needles and
delicate blades of new grass
a single yellow bell

  1. Yes, "rusty ponderosa needles" well describes their erosion . . . thank you. Here in my ponderosa woods, the first blooms are Northwestern Spring Beauties. I'll need to make the acquaintance of Yellow Bells.

  2. Hi Allison! Spring beauty - I wonder if that is the little white and pink flower I saw out there the same morning. Will take my field guide with me next time. I enjoyed reading your Students to Studios blog. I think your ponderosas are not that far from mine. You'll find yellow bells soon.

  3. Beautiful contrast between rust and yellow! And the touch of "bell" adds a little magic!
